Huddersfield Town Ladies thumped Sheffield United 6-0 at Storthes Hall to go second in the Northern Women’s Combination, a point behind leaders Stockport County with a game in hand.

Emile Heckler and Debbie Hastings both had chances before Abbie Mullen put them ahead with a calm 16th-minute finish.

Town keeper Charlotte Oates kept United out with a good save, then Heckler doubled the advantage in the 40th minute after breaking clear.

Heckler grabbed her second from a Hastings cross a minute before the break, while Town had an escape when the visitors hit a post.

Town chances came and went before Heckler made it a hat trick on the hour, then Oates had her busiest spell of the match.

In the 73rd minute, Katie Nutter’s cross was powerfully headed home by Heckler, and Hastings produced a neat finish 10 minutes from time.
