New signing Declan James-Thomas scored a first-half hat trick as KSL Division I leaders Linthwaite beat Field Head 9-2 at Royds Hall.

Linthwaite started the match with 10 men, giving Field Head extra hope of maybe causing an upset, but the table-toppers rattled in six goals without reply before the break.

James-Thomas was at the forefront, but Linthwaite played some entertaining team football with goals being added by Rhys Wharam (2), Connor Beaumont (2), Don Johnson and Jonathan Schofield.

Schofield’s was the goal of the game, his raking cross-cum-shot going in off an upright, while James-Thomas was voted man-of-the-match.

Alan Eastwood got both goals for Field Head.

Second-placed Dalton beat Golcar Con 6-1 at Standiforth.

Dalton started the match much the better and should have been at least two up, but it was Golcar who opened the scoring on 15 minutes.

The lead was shortlived as Courtney Allert levelled for Dalton three minutes later and then defender Connor Kaye went on a mazy run before finishing neatly from close range.

Jamie Hartley scored a sublime free kick to make it 3-1 to Dalton just before the break.

In the second half Dalton’s domination continued, with further goals for Allert and Hartley and one for Ben Brook.

But even though the home team continued to dominate, they couldn’t add to their tally.
