Huddersfield Town fans were in the mood for a bit of banter ahead of the pre-season clash with Liverpool.

Around 21,000 people were expected for the pre-season friendly at the John Smith's Stadium.

Town fans were having a go at the "plastic" Liverpool fans who were sporting Scouse tops - but, judging by the Yorkshire accents, weren't from anywhere even close to Merseyside.

Town fan Marcus said on Twitter: "HTAFC fans will have seen more live Liverpool matches after tonight, than the majority of Liverpool fans."

Town fan Chloe Peel said: "Bored of the plastic Liverpool fans already. Broad Yorkshire...Scouse top on. Do one."

The mood was buoyant among the Town faithful.

Twitter user Steve B said: "20k plus for Liverpool friendly, Season Cards sales nearly at 15k and new kits selling well...If Carlsberg did footy clubs."

Examiner Roy Wright - a Burnley fan - also got caught up in the excitement this evening, tweeting videos and photos from inside and outside the stadium.

Mr Wright posted photos of the Town players and one of Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, chatting to reporters on the pitch.

He also posted a photo of the club's commercial director Sean Jarvis looking very dapper in a suit which appeared a little bit too close to the colour RED.

Some Town fans were a bit miffed that Liverpool supporters were popping up in the home areas.

Mark Fletcher, commenting on Twitter, said: "Liverpool shirts in the home areas should not be allowed. Out of order."
