Linthwaite will face Sporting Pudsey in the fourth round of the West Riding Trophy on January 3.

They sealed their place with a 7-1 away success against Armthorpe Village Crusaders.

The scoreline suggests how the game went, with Linthwaite instantly getting on top and having a high percentage of possession throughout – along with countless chances.

In the opening third of the game Linthwaite gave themselves a 3-0 cushion, with the first two coming from Courtney Allette.

Allette got the benefit of the doubt with an offside decision, and made the opportunity count.

The second was secured when Allette, in a similar position, comfortably converted again.

On 30 minutes Dean Siddiq added the third, with arguably the goal of the game – cutting in from the left to smash home.

After the break Linthwaite continued in exactly the same fashion and were the quickest out of the blocks.

They soon added another goal through Steve Richards, but they then eased off for a few minutes and Armthorpe took advantage to pull a goal back (4-1).

Any hope of a comeback was quickly shot down when Allette completed his hat trick, thumping the ball home from close range, before adding his fourth.

Goalkeeper Paul Day wrapped up the scoring from the penalty spot with the last kick of the game.

Holders Wellington Westgate progressed to round four after beating Britannia AFC Tadcaster for the third season in a row in the competition.

Again it was a solid win, this time 4-1 at Tadcaster.

A first-half hat trick from Ashley Flynn gave Wellington a comfortable 3-0 half-time lead, with plenty of chances created.

The second half was a tighter affair, with Britannia pulling one back on 60 minutes.

The Kirklees Sunday League side then had to hold out during a 20-minute spell of pressure, but with seven minutes to go, Jamie Jobarteh headed in at the far post to restore the visitors three-goal lead.

Despite Flynn scoring three, Leigh Miller had a great game and earned the man of the match award, followed closely by Jobarteh, who was a constant threat to the home side.

Wellington face Whitkirk Wanderers at home in the next round – also on January 3.

Walkers Hounds try again tomorrow, after their home tie against Batley Irish Nash was called off due to a waterlogged pitch at Longfield Avenue, Golcar.
