TOWN turned on the style and could have crushed Lincoln by even more.
Andy Booth, Lee Fowler and John McAliskey were all on the Galpharm scoresheet yesterday, as was Lincoln's Nathan Peat with an own goal to augment the rout.
It all added up to a real drubbing for the visitors, who found Town too solid at the back, too creative in midfield and too powerful in front of goal - even though the finishing could have been more clinical.
Most importantly, the returning first-teamers Booth, Fowler and Rob Edwards came through unscathed - with Booth coming off after 62 minutes in a clear indication he'll be involved against Wrexham at home on Saturday after three matches on the sidelines.
Booth, in fact, tested keeper Simon Rayner with cracking strikes both before and after his goal on 39 minutes, which was superbly created by Adnan Ahmed and the impressive Michael Collins, whose intelligent running and passing had Lincoln chasing shadows most of the game.
Town continued to dictate in the second half, with Nat Brown and John McCombe ensuring that Phil Senior didn't have a serious save to make throughout.
It was Brown's long ball to Luke Caulfield which forced Peat into heading past his own keeper after 68 minutes, and there were chances galore towards the end.
Both Collins and Ahmed might have scored with first-time shots instead of trying to tee-up supporting players, while the latter also brought a smart save from the keeper and saw a raking low drive deflected inches wide.
Substitute Mark Sheridan was also unlucky not to notch when making a sneaky late run, similar to that which brought Fowler a welcome goal seven minutes from the end.
At that stage it looked like McAliskey would miss out again, but he was rewarded in stoppage time after Fowler's pass caught the defence on the hop once again.
By then, full-backs Aaron Hardy and Rob Edwards were joining in for fun and Senior was a complete spectator as Town laid siege to the Lincoln penalty area.
