The winning strikeforce

I STILL firmly believe that Andy Booth and Pawel Abbott are Town's best front pairing.

We need Andy's presence up front, particularly on our travels.

Given recent criticism of Abbott in the press and Jacko's keeness to bench him last year seemingly at every opportunity, is it just me thinking that we could see a match in the not too distant future with Gary Taylor-Fletcher and Boothy up front and Pav on the bench?

We can't let this happen!

I know some people don't like Abbott, but in the last few games I've seen us play, he's looked absolutely on fire and like he might score with his back to goal 30 yards out.

Also, I am wondering what's happened to Adnan Ahmed.

He appears to have played at least two reserve games and so ought to be featuring very, very soon.

Or has he now dropped below Carss, Hudson, Worthington and Collins in the pecking order?

Surely not, but you never know!

Furthermore, does anyone know when Mirfin is back?

He's absolutely invaluable to our defence.

Ditto McIntosh. I have a horrible feeling, given his age, that he may be experiencing an Andy Morrison and Ken Monkou-type persistent knee problem!

I noticed in the last programme he's a month away, but we were told after Chesterfield that he'd be back in four to six weeks!

Worthy praise

I'VE been a staunch critic of Jon Worthington in the last two years.

However, he has taken the mantle in midfield and is now becoming more mature.

He deserves praise for that.

Adnan Ahmed will have to wait for his chance, and at present our most under-performing midfielder is Chris Brandon.

I think Tony Carss and Worthington seem a good pairing in midfield, the best I have seen recently.

And who in their right mind would drop Danny Schofield at the moment?

Contract needed

WHATEVER it takes, we have to give Danny Schofield a new contract, never mind Brandon.

We can't afford to lose him.

When he plays well, we always seem to win.

And let's get behind Pawel Abbott. His confidence looks shot.

I wonder what Jacko has said to him.

Good to be back

I CAN'T wait until David Mirfin returns from injury!

He is top class and without him we may struggle in defence.

Non-starter

THE South Stand latest - it's not going to happen.

I've had an email from Town chief executive Andrew Watson.

He's had meetings with three supporter groups and they are not in favour of changing things.

Brandon point

I WOULD like to make a point about Chris Brandon, who last season was most people's star performer.

This season, however, his form has been much more patchy.

Is this in any way connected with his extended contract negotiations, news of which seems to have dried-up?

Martin Taylor

Huddersfield

Where's Lloyd?

WHERE is Anthony Lloyd these days?

I rate him as a good player and if Adams gets injured, who fills in at left back?

Adams has been our most consistent player so far and a credit to Jacko for getting him.

But please let Lloyd have a chance.

Home concern

I COME all the way to Town every other Saturday and have been pleased with the performances overall.

But there are times when we look dodgy, though.

For some reason, they haven't been convincing at home.

Pay for view

I AM aware the upper tier of the Panasonic has no real atmosphere.

But I've sat in the same seat since it was built as I would rather pay to get a top view. It's second to none.

Regarding Mendes, I think if he was played up front with Pav or Booth he would torture defences.

Why has he been put on the wing? If I was a defender I would be scared to face him.

Josh

Huddersfield

Stand defence

I WOULD like to defend the upper Panasonic section of the ground.

It may be too far away from the action, but it is probably the best view in the stadium.

You tell the season ticket holders who sit there they have to move, and it will not happen.

Can't wait!

I CAN'T wait for the next Super League season!

Some great signings already and possibly more to come.

All we need now is for the good folk of Huddersfield to get down to the Galpharm in their numbers and support the Giants.

Drag your family and friends along, too.

Anyone who hasn't been to a game recently will hopefully become hooked on the best game in the world and the team who belong at the top of it - the Giants!

Wild about signing

WHAT fantastic news that we have signed Stephen Wild from Wigan!

We have already signed three quality players and still have space for an Aussie.

If we can pick up at least one more top player we will have put together a quality team for next year.

I'm off to buy my season ticket!

Mouth-watering

THE signings of Steve Snitch and Stephen Wild have me watering from the mouth for the start of next season.

I can't wait to see `nasty' Nero firing on all eight cylinders.

And if Chris Thorman is picked for Great Britain there should be a ticker-tape parade through the streets of Fartown!

Need a name

WE'VE had some good news on the signings front, with good players with proven ability coming on board.

What we need now is a big name to put those bums on seats.

The rumours about Robbie Paul persist, but my contact at Odsal says it's a non-starter.

Keep it up!

I AM pleased we have the signings that we do, and looking forward to watching them play for the Giants in 2006 as I have withdrawal symptoms now with no Rugby!

I feel that with Jon Sharp we are going upward and onward!

Keep up the good work, Giants, and let's see more fans at matches!!
