Huddersfield Town fans were elated with their side's opening day victory against Brentford on Saturday and are itching for the next installment of the Terriers' season.

Town were pegged back by the Bees with fifteen minutes of the match left, having taken a second-half lead thanks to an Elias Kachunga header, but Kasey Palmer fired in a debut goal a minute later to win the game for the David Wagner's side.

The victory was Town's first opening day triumph since 2010 when they beat Notts County 3-0 at Meadow Lane.

The win has added to the already snowballing optimism around the John Smith's Stadium, with Town fans quick to praise their players' performances after the final whistle.

Eamonn from South Cave said: "Great performance. A little error for their goal but a fantastic hit back, to get us back in front," with Simon from Newsome sharing his positivity: "Great team spirit and full of promise for the new season - they looked fit too. Highly encouraging."

Further away, Andy in the Algarve tuned in to the game on live radio and was very pleased with the result. He said: "Sounded amazing. Great spirit great passing great play. Well done town! Will have all the ex-pats following us by mid season."

And the atmosphere closer to home was equally positive.

Pete from Crewe said: "Very encouraging, Dean Hoyle is calling for a step change. If this is what it looks like... step on! Great energy, commitment and skill. Aaron Mooy was excellent, Kachunga too. Good start to build on, and Nahki still to be unleashed..." and Joanne in Salendine Nook said: "A real Terrier-like performance from a confident looking Town squad. Great to see lots of our new signings in action! Mooy and Payne impressed in midfield. Would liked to have seen Hefele replace Hudson at some point in the match."

Many fans praised the manager for his part in the victory, with Roger from Menston commenting: "Very encouraging start for once to a season. The whole team contributed in a positive way including subs. Well done to David Wagner for getting it right for the first game, now let's do it 45 more times!" and Bats in Mirfield agreeing: "Good start some good debut performances. Jack Payne has got some tricks - let's keep the Wagner revolution rolling on."

Kasey Palmer celebrates Town's winning goal against Brentford

Malcolm in Honley summarised most of the fans' thoughts. He said: "One word - solid! Apart from one or two lapses in concentration town looked every bit like a team that can compete this season.

"There was energy and a willingness to protect the ball and Town's passing game was quick and decisive. Mooy oozed class throughout. His vision was second to none. I cannot wait for the next installment."

Although most fans were buoyed by the result, a selection of supporters were left unconvinced by the display.

Tony in Salendine Nook agreed it was a good result, but argued: "I was very disappointed with the performances of Van La Parra and Hudson though," and Dave in Shelley was unimpressed with Australian Mooy. He said: "How can you possibly rate Mooy as the best player he put no effort in at all and seemed to believe he was better than the rest of the team. Doesn't look like a team player to me."

Michael in Bradford completely disagrees however. He wrote: "There's a lot more passing in the Town game, but you can see the team haven't gelled yet. I'm glad we have the Titan in midfield - MOOY HE'S CLASS. He controlled everything - another Darren Bullock."

And Stephen out in Tenerife was happy with the performance, but believes the side would benefit from another goal-scorer. He said: "I'm still concerned we do not have enough firepower in the squad.

"Fantastic result and never say die attitude. Some of these so-called pundits don't have a clue when saying Town will get relegated. I think they could be one or two raised eyebrows come the end of the season."
