THERE’S a new first for the Yorkshire Cup this year with the arrival of a team from India.

Turf Sport Management, based in Delhi, will be in town when the major annual junior soccer festival at Leeds Road Playing Field kicks off on Friday and runs through to Sunday.

TSM is a soccer coaching school who send teams to events all over Europe.

One came to Bradford last year and heard about the Huddersfield event, prompting the entry.

The Indian players are staying with friends made in Bradford as they prepare to compete in the Under 13 section.

Rival teams will include Bielsko-Biala, Kirklees’ twin town in Poland, Hepworth United, Howden Clough, Moston Brook, Doncaster Boys, and Yorkshire Lions, who have entered two teams at this age group.

The action gets under way at 9.30 each day. Group games take place on Friday and Saturday, with the finals on Sunday.
