AFC EMLEY Manager Darren Hepworth will be working hard to put his team’s thoughts firmly on league matters this week.

The club’s FA Vase fourth round clash against Hadleigh United was called off in plenty of time to save the Suffolk side from making a treacherous trip last Friday.

Another heavy bout of snow ensured there would have been no other option but to cancel the game had Hadleigh travelled. The Vase game will now take place on Saturday (February 2), but before then Emley face a tough top of the table clash in the Northern Counties East League’s first division away to Shirebrook Town tomorrow night.

Manager Hepworth said: “Once again we were frustrated by the weather but now we must turn our attentions to Shirebrook.

“The Hadleigh game plan will go back in the drawer and we won’t even look at it until Thursday morning.

“Shirebrook is a massive game for us and we must be at our very best tomorrow if we are going to get anything out of the game.

“They are flying at the moment, building a really talented squad and looking stronger and stronger all the time.

“As important as the Vase is to the club, going forward this is one of the biggest tests that we face this season and it’s vital that we can get a result if we are to keep up our promotion challenge.”
