THERE was agony for AFC Emley as they lost 2-1 to Hallam in their FA Cup replay.

Second-half goals from Tomlinson (54 minutes) and Hunter (60) put the Northern Counties East League Premier Division side into the first qualifying round.

But First Division AFC, who led through Craig Wilkinson in the 28th minute, were aggrieved to have two strong penalty claims turned down in the closing stages in what was a solid team display.

A crowd of 202 saw both teams have men sent off – O’Carroll and Hunter for Hallam and scorer Wilkinson for Emley.

After tomorrow’s away game at Rainworth, AFC entertain Scarborough a week tomorrow (3.00) and they are also at home the following week (September 22) when Ramsbottom are the visitors in the FA Vase (3.00).
