ADNAN AHMED made history last night as the first player of Asian descent to play for Town.

The 19-year-old from Burnley was more relieved, however, to have remembered his boots!

"It was a total shock to be on the bench because I'd had no indication beforehand," said the Academy product. "I'm just glad I took my boots, because I hadn't expected to be involved at all!

"Obviously I'm proud to make my debut and grateful for the opportunity, because I've worked a long time for the chance."

Father Riaz, from Pakistan, was in the crowd, as were Ahmed's brothers Majid and Imran.
