LUCAS AKINS netted as Town Reserves drew 1-1 at Chester City yesterday in the Pontin’s Cup.

With a 1-0 win against Tranmere already under their belt in the Cup group, Town went ahead in the 12th minute when Akins headed home a Mitchell Bailey corner.

Chester equalised on 23 minutes with a direct free-kick from Chris Holroyd.

The big bonus for Town was that skipper Jon Worthington came through the full 90 minutes unscathed after his groin injury woes.

Danny Schofield was also lively up front in the first half, before switching to the left in the second, from where he went close with a couple of shots.

Akins and Bailey, with a free-kick, were also only inches away.

Danny Racchi went off after a clash of heads.

Town – Smithies, Hardy, Mirfin, Killock, Codman (Jackson 30), Roberts (Pickering 60), Bailey, Worthington, Racchi (Heagney 60), Schofield, Akins. Subs not used: Harris, Williams.
