BAY ATHLETIC’S arch-rivals Albion Sports are hoping to join the Northern Counties East League.
Huddersfield’s record-breaking side have beaten Bradford-based Albion to the West Riding County Amateur League title for the last two seasons.
Now Albion, who play at the Myra Shay ground, want to step up to the next rung on the league ladder.
They are waiting to hear if their application to join the NCEL First Division, in which AFC Emley play, has been successful.
While Bay will look to extend their historic run of four consecutive WRCAL titles in a division which will include AFC Emley Reserves, Albion could be playing the likes of Eccleshill United, Yorkshire Amateur and Worsbrough Bridge.
Next season’s NCEL First Division could also include Worksop Parramore, who as Sheffield Parramore, won this season’s Central Midlands League title.
While Emley’s second string have been promoted to the WRCAL Premier, Bay Reserves cannot go up despite finishing runners-up to Littletown.
Meanwhile Bay’s new academy side will compete in the RCD League Under 17 section next season.
Trials will be held at New College a week tomorrow, June 8, from 6.00 to 8.00.
The academy is open to players who are 17 or under on August 31 2012.
