AFC EMLEY fell victim to a late goal for the third match running as Glasshoughton MW hit back from two down to seal the win which earned them a place in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division.

The visitors, who fielded former Town full-back Anthony Lloyd, knew victory would seal promotion, but it looked like Emley would deny them with a performance full of character.

However things fell apart in the final six minutes as Steven Bennett scored twice.

Emley took a 22nd-minute lead when Scott Holt netted his 18th goal of the season from close range after Lloyd blocked a shot by Chris Wdowczyk.

And skipper Paul Banton, a former Glasshoughton player, doubled the advantage on the hour, when he headed home from a corner.

The visitors were handed a lifeline on 68 minutes when Sean Hazelden put through his own net after Glasshoughton pumped a free-kick in from deep aimed at skipper Paul Sykes.

Mark Stuart missed a great chance to make it 3-1, and Glasshoughton took advantage when substitute Bennett levelled with his first touch on 84 minutes, then forced home an 89th-minute winner.

Emley complete their fixtures at home to Worsbrough Bridge tomorrow (7.45).
