NICK JAGGER scored twice as Bay Athletic finally put their name on the West Riding FA Challenge Cup.
Huddersfield’s treble chasers beat Otley Town 2-1 at Woodlesford to add the county trophy to the Huddersfield FA Challenge Cup.
Now Richard Spychalksi’s aces are focused on a record-breaking fourth successive West Riding County Amateur League title.
Bay took time to settle against West Yorkshire League side Otley, with the opening stages scrappy.
There was some progress down the left, through Danny Naidole and Steve Smith, who came close with a long-distance shot in the 25th minute.
Bay finally made the breakthrough in the 31st minute, when Jagger steered home Smith’s corner into the crowded penalty area.
Bay came agonisingly close to a second in the 42nd minute.
Smith fed Naidole, whose cross was laid back by Kitson Gayle for Brighton Mugadza to drill in a shot which bounced back off the inside of a post.
Otley came out for the second half far more fired up, and needed only three minute to equalise.
Liam Rothery was deemed to have handled as a strong shot from the edge of the box flew into him, and the penalty was put away to signal 15 minutes of pressure.
Bay worked hard to soak it up, with the introduction of experienced Steve Perrin helping the side stay composed and start to win back possession.
A strong run by left-back John Buckley, who surged upfield and drilled in a shot which was deflected for a corner, seemed to tilt the final back towards Bay.
Naidole came close after good build-up play by Smith and Perrin, then Mugadza hit the woodwork for the second time.
The winner came in the 82nd minute, when Jagger headed home Tom Brown’s cross to make Bay the first Huddersfield side to win the county cup since Meltham back in 2005.
