BRITANNIA SPORTS have strengthened their grip at the top of the First Division.

In an exciting round of fixtures, they registered a 9-2 drubbing of last season’s cup winners Athletico Monkey at Newsome High School.

Tomorrow, it’s the first round of cup fixtures.

In Division I, Pak Rangers defeated Helion 7-1.

Both sides seemed to struggle to raise a side as neither had any substitutes.

Pak Rangers made the breakthrough with Murray laying on a chance for Aamer Ghaffar which he back heeled into the net, then Murray added a second with an excellent finish.

In the second half, Pak just piled on the pressure with Qamran Safeer winning a penalty and scoring it and then adding another goal.

Plenty of chances were missed before Rizwan Safdar finally found the net, after he had had a number of shots saved by the Helion keeper.

Also on the scoresheet for Pak were Shahid Mohammed and Dawood Hussain (penalty) and Helion managed to score a late consolation goal.

In Division II, newcomers Barge Albion fired themselves to the top of the table with a 4-1 win over Barr Street at Fartown High.

Danny Stranovic opened the scoring with a good finish before debutant Ian Brock made it two with a deflected header from a corner.

Jamie Cartledge made it three when he intercepted a Barr Street clearance and fired the ball hard into the bottom corner.

Both sides missed chances, including a sitter from Ash Addy, before Stranovic grabbed his second to take the tally to four.

A rare defensive lapse from the impeccable Scott Nolan gave Barr Street their consolation.
