AFC EMLEY suffered a second-half collapse as they were beaten 4-1 by Rossington Main in the Northern Counties East League Division I at the Welfare Ground.
Rossington made the stronger start in windy conditions and went close when striker Lee Holmes shot wide.
Rossington went close again when a Dean Sidebottom cross was headed just wide by Jordan Hatton.
Twenty one minutes had elapsed when Scott Holt had Emley’s first shot but it was straight at Main’s keeper Lee Appleby.
Appleby had to be at his best to pull off a save to keep out a shot from Chris Wdowczyk soon after, and on 33 minutes Emley keeper Adam Valente was forced to save well from Hatton and then from Zeph Thomas.
Holt had Emley’s best chance of the half when he hit the bar and, early in the second period, home striker David Heagney saw his shot hit a post.
Emley’s Max Joice then had a shot which just cleared the bar, but when manager Darren Hepworth made his first change on 63 minutes, replacing Joice with Nathan Tayo, it was Rossington who went a goal up when they scored from a corner.
On 72 minutes Holt had a shot just wide of the target and, a minute later, Hepworth made his second substitution with Marc Townsend returning from injury to replace Steve Powell.
Seven minutes later Emley got their equaliser as Holt netted from just outside the penalty area, but Rossington were soon back in front with a goal from Jason Stokes.
Four minutes from time Emley were 3-1 down when Thomas scored and in the 90th minute Holmes scored his side’s fourth.
