IT was West Riding County FA Cup action for many of the RCD League sides.

Jordan Fulton was the hero for Brighouse Under 16s as they got their County Cup campaign off to a sound start with a 3-0 victory over Ossett Town.

Fulton’s first-half strike was the only difference between the sides as half time came and went and Brighouse manager, Phil Baker, was clearly nervous about his side’s chances against the Charles Rice (Wakefield) League side.

A second Fulton strike minutes into the second half settled the home side’s nerves and, from then on, Brighouse never looked in danger of relinquishing their lead.

Fulton completed his hat trick 10 minutes from the end to dispel any fears of an Ossett comeback as Brighouse booked their place in the second round.

Salendine Nook-based Collegians enjoyed a terrific time in the cups.

The long journey to Settle United of the Craven League (North Bradford) proved worthwhile as Blake Corcoran (2), Billy Lodge (2), Peter Williams (2), Alex Marriot-Mills, George Ramsey and an own goal gave Collegians a resounding 9-0 victory.

And their Under 14 clubmates almost equalled the feat as they were also involved in a nine-goal game in the County FA Junior Trophy when they entertained Beeston of the Garforth (Leeds) League.

A personal five-goal haul for Nicolas Reaks was added to by Jacob Finneran, Joshua Orchard and Joshua Wrigley to give Collegians a comfortable 8-1 ride into the second round.

Two RCD League rivals met when Kirkheaton travelled to Honley for their first-round meeting in the Under 14 competition.

Michael Hirst was on target for the home side but a double strike from Luke Walker and a third goal from Ricardo Ianzito proved enough to put Kirkheaton’s name into the hat for the second round draw.

Another team with a long journey were Dalton Dynamoes, who travelled to Harrogate for their clash with Pannal Ash Under 14s.

Dalton’s went through 3-1 with goals from Carl David (2) and Oliver Scott.

Back in the League, Kirkheaton Under 17s pushed themselves into third place in Division I with a solid victory at Bolton Woods.

A double strike from Jordan Broadbent together with one each for Kingsley Rowe and Daniel Howker kept the Bradford side in the game, but a hat trick for Ryan O’Hara and further goals from Zishaan Faridi, Niall Simpson and Patrick Renn ensured the full three points for Kirkheaton.

In the same age group, Kirkburton were not so fortunate in their Division II meeting with Bradford Park Avenue, losing 5-3..
