A GROUP of former players who originally founded Grange Moor Football Club celebrated together after 40 years.

The club was formed in 1969 when a number of players who lived in the village got together instead of turning out for other Huddersfield League teams or sides in other districts.

After a series of friendlies and ground improvements, the team was accepted into the West Riding County Amateur League Premier Division, where they played for a long number of years.

A young fledgling FA coach trained the team in those days – Graham Renshaw – who is now employed on the coaching staff at Real Madrid.

After the passing of all those years, the club today is still well supported by a keen bunch of young players and enjoys Huddersfield League status but has future ambitions to maybe progress back to the West Riding ranks.
