Sunday League champions Heywood Irish Centre look set to again ask the questions in Division I as they fought back to maintain their 100% record.

Trailing 4-2 to Team Forward at half-time, the Irish squad responded to coach Paul Quinn’s words and ran out 5-4 winners, thanks to a brace each from top scorer Adam Bell and Lee Bradshaw, plus another from John Paul Flynn.

Josh Rowbottom gave Honley Socialist an early lead in the derby with Cricketers Arms, but after levelling just before the break, Cricketers ran riot in the second half, running out 6-1 winners with Richard Hirst (2), Marcus Thomas, Jackie Walker and Adam Kirk netting, along with an own goal.

Anthony Haigh notched a hat trick and Neil Slattery two goals as Wellington won a cracking match with Marsh Lib.

Wellington took a 2-0 lead, but Marsh suddenly came to life and knocked in four unanswered goals, Andy Morris getting two, along with Richard Dyson and Inderjeet Chamal, before Haigh roared back for Wellington to nick the result 5-4.

Rose and Crown retained their unbeaten record, beating Thornhill Arms 3-1 with goals from Luke Haigh, Richard Coggan and Parker.

Two of the new clubs Golcar Con and Lindley WMC met at Longfield Avenue in another excellent encounter.

Golcar took the lead through Aitken, only for Brighton Mugadza to equalise with a delicate 20-yard chip. Tom McCreadie made it 2-1 to Golcar, only for Chris Green to head an equaliser before the break.

Mugadza gave Lindley the early second half advantage, but McCreadie also struck his second to level it once more and then on 55 minutes Mugadza was sent off for protesting after receiving a yellow card.

Golcar finally took advantage with Gavin Brook netting direct from a corner and in the final minute Luke Stocks hit number five to finish the game off.

The Gas Club beat Rope Walk 3-1 to go third, while Heywood Irish Reserves ran riot against Kirkheaton Lib, netting eight times without reply.
