HOLDERS Pak Rangers easily disposed of Division II pacesetters Inter Athletic in the first round of the Get Smart Insurance Challenge Cup.

They cruised to an 11-2 victory thanks to a Paul Pyke hat trick and goals from Lance Hanson (2), Jamie Jobarteh (2), Rees Thomas, Aamer Hussain, Steve Marshall and Brighton Mugadza.

Meltham Victoria Park gained revenge for their league defeat against Dalton by defeating their opponents 3-2 at Honley. Meltham’s scorers were Cooper, Tindal and Howe.

Meltham were 2-0 down before Dalton’s leading scorer Andy Anderson pulled one back.

The match opened up in the second half and Dalton scored an equaliser through Nathan Large.

The game looked to be heading for extra-time before Meltham got their winner when Dalton failed to deal with a cross.

Three new clubs had success in the Cup.

Huddersfield Irish beat Club Kirkheaton 5-0 with Adams (2), McLachlan, Alexander and Jones netting for Irish, while Rose and Crown were 6-3 victors over fellow new club Marsh FC.

Byrne, Dean Wharam and Lee Wharam got two apiece for Rose, with Dyson, Chahal and Kaler scoring for Marsh.

Barking Spider had a 3-2 win over Woolpack

Spider were 2-0 before Woolpack – with only 11 players to choose from – even started to get into any sort of rhythm.

Once they got into their stride, Woolpack started to look good.

At the back Daniel Martin got a grip of his players and they began to look very organised.

Skipper Dave Ginty was pulling strings in midfield and Jordan Ramsden-Reilly was posing a real threat playing behind the striker.

And it was Ramsden-Reilly whose superbly-timed run left him one-on-one and he kept his composure to make it 2-1.

Woolpack went close to an equaliser before half time through Martin and Ginty, and they also started the second half well.

Jordan Wells was the man who got them on level terms with a powerful cross from the left which dipped and went in off the keeper.

Barking made three changes and really started to hit back, netting the winner 15 minutes from time.

Woolpack now go into the Lockwood Taxis Trophy with the other sides who lost in the Cup – Dalton, Wellington B, Escorpians, Kirkheaton, Inter, Marsh and two from Black Bull, Field Head and Barge Albion.

The two Division II Wellington sides had mixed fortunes – Wellington “A” beating struggling Escorpians 6-1 (Vant for Escorpians and Eddy Hamlet (2), Haigh, Roach, Bradley and an own goal for Wellington).

Wellington “B” lost 5-2 to Division I Helion (Hall (2), Ellis and Armitage (2) for Helion).
