IT’S been a tough start to the season for Golcar Con and Marsh Lib, but both have played leading contenders Huddersfield Irish Centre and Lindley WMC.

Golcar lost 4-1 at Lindley, where Brighton Mugadza (2), Kitson Gayle and Paul Pyke notched for the winners.

The Colne Valley side replied through James Dickinson and Andrew Allison.

Beaten 6-0 by Lindley the week before, Marsh Con crashed 8-2 against Irish Centre.

Ashley Flynn hit a hat trick and Keiran Ryan two, while Jon-Paul Flynn, Matthew Tattersley and Darren Henighan also counted.

Michael Beaumont got both goals for Marsh.

Irish Centre and Lindley are joint second behind surprise leaders Rose & Crown.

They overcame previously unbeaten Kirkheaton 4-1 to make it three wins from three.

Kirkheaton were under the cosh early on, when Rose hit the bar and a post and brought a fine save from the home keeper.

Michael Henrigues put Kirkheaton ahead on the half hour but Rose responded after the break.

Jacob Goodare’s hat trick helped Wellington beat Leeds Road Wanderers 7-2.
