AFC EMLEY scored a 3-0 win at Glasshoughton MW and had goalkeeper Jamie Green on the scoresheet, but they remain sixth in the Northern Counties East League Division I.
With only one match left to play – at Appleby Frodingham on Saturday (3.00) – Ian Banks’s side have no chance of promotion.
At Glasshoughton, Matt Neesam gave them the lead after a goalmouth scramble and then Josh Nodder got the second with a cracking long-range effort.
The second half became scrappy, with the young Glasshoughton side battling hard, but Emley completed the victory three minutes from time with a fortunate penalty.
Steve Kenworthy was brought down and got the benefit of the doubt as the incident looked suspiciously outside the box.
Keeper Green was given the honour of taking the spot kick and he made no mistake.
