DEAN CALCUTT’S double helped Kirkburton ease into the third round of the Sheffield Challenge Cup.

The West Riding County Amateur League club’s former Emley and Accrington Stanley player struck first as his side beat Sheffield Athletic 6-1.

Burton were grateful for Richard Kellett’s early save, but after Calcutt struck on 20 minutes, took command.

James Mellor set up James Senior for number two on the half hour, then John Allison chipped the third.

Kellett made another good save and Ben Hugill cleared off the line early in the second half.

But Mellor’s two goals either side of a Calcutt penalty ensured the visitors’ late effort was only a consolation.

Burton host Athersley in the third round on December 12.
