KIRKBURTON moved into the last four of the Sheffield Rosehill Press Association Cup with a 3-1 win at High Green Villa.

Player-manager Paul Quinn was delighted with his side’s performance as they outplayed their highly-rated opponents for much of the quarter-final clash.

Kirkburton had the game won by the interval after taking a deserved 3-0 lead.

Goals from Keiran Ryan, Richard Kettlewell and Damien Sykes saw the Huddersfield side rewarded for their dominance.

It could have been an even more comfortable margin as Burton had two goals disallowed and struck the woodwork on three occasions.

The second half was a much tighter affair with Kirkburton playing much of their football on the break.

Some excellent handling from Damien Brookes in the Burton goal, along with a solid defensive display, saw that High Green would not get the goal needed to get themselves back into the tie.

Burton had several chances to extend their lead but could not convert.

Substitute Adam Bell was involved in an incident that led to the dismissal of a High Green player to add to the hosts woes.

Josh Williams was outstanding for Kirkburton at centre half and took the man of the match award.

Boss Quinn was disappointed to see his side concede a late goal, but it was only be a consolation for the hosts.

The draw for the semi-finals takes place tonight as Burton now look ahead to another quarter-final on Saturday, this time in the West Riding County Amateur League Cup at Steeton.
