IN-FORM Kirkheaton Rovers are making a determined bid for Division II honours in the Works League.
They are third behind Ireti Athletic and Golcar United, having beaten both those rivals in their last two fixtures, and they are now only two points behind with four games to go.
Their latest win was against leaders Ireti at Sands Rec in Dewsbury and was achieved in very heavy conditions, but Rovers took the points 3-2.
Leading scorer Dominic Verity got both goals for the home side.
Elsewhere in Division II, Marsden continued their improvement with a 2-0 win over Shelley at Hemplow thanks to goals from Patterson and L Wood.
In Division I, second-placed Sovereign Sports maintained their position with a 5-4 home win over Lepton Highlanders, goals coming from S Armstrong, Maher, Bottomley, L Armstrong and Calvert.
Spirited Lepton replied through Ianzito (2), Edwards and Hewitt.
At Lindley Rec, the Liberal Club were 4-0 up with 20 minutes to go through Smith (2), Boswell and McLean, but Aimbry fought back to earn a point with strikes from Reid (2), Tararzi and Conway.
