LEPTON Highlanders need just three more points from their remaining three games to take the West Riding County Amateur League Division II title.

They moved within touching distance of the silverware with a 3-1 win at Long Lee – the Keighley team they face in the Division II Cup final at Natty Lane in Halifax next Monday.

The game was played in very windy conditions and Lepton missed a stack of first-half chances – Ash Flynn having one effort saved and hitting another against the bar, while JP Flynn hit a post.

In the first 10 minutes of the second half, however, Lepton went 2-0 up.

Ash Flynn got the first from a lovely through ball from Nick Robinson, then Anthony Haigh pounced on a defensive mistake to smash a shot into the top corner.

Lepton increased their lead on 70 minutes when Danny Walker surged through to set up Ash Flynn for his second.

Long Lee netted three minutes from time.
