LEPTON Highlanders powered their way into the last eight of the West Riding FA County Trophy with a thumping 10-1 win over Britannia.

They made a hesitant start with keeper Danny Armitage having to save at the feet of a Britannia striker, but five minutes later they took the lead through Tom Mitchell and he added his second on 24 minutes after Greg Mitchell had further extended Highlanders’ lead.

Britannia hit back with Ben Clayton-Smith beating Armitage with a tidy finish, but Lepton were 4-1 by half-time when Ross Martin converted a penalty.

The second half saw Lepton cut loose with Mitchell completing his hat trick before Nick Robinson, Simon Walsh and JP Flynn increased the lead before Mitchell rounded off matters with the 10th goal.

Lepton are at home in the quarter-finals where they will face Knaresborough Town Reserves.
