MELTHAM had cause for a double celebration when both their Under 11 teams recorded notable victories.

The first team grabbed a win at Kirkburton and, in doing so, dealt a serious blow to Kirkburton’s title aspirations.

Although the home sided netted twice, Meltham went one better with replies from Joseph Bullas, Reece Norbury and Euan Kinsey to record a surprise 3-2 victory.

Meanwhile, Meltham’s second string Under 11s were keeping their promotion hopes alive with a comfortable win over Ossett Town.

With the visitors unable to find the net, goals from Kyrone Cooper and Tyreke Dewar-Moodie set the home side on the road to victory and a hat trick from Ethan Dennis finished the job to give Meltham a 5-0 victory and a valuable three points.

In division I of the Under 12s, struggling Dalton Dynamoes gave their hit-and-miss season a welcome boost with a narrow victory over Liversedge.

Nathan Howe, Oliver Bellwood and Jordan Hanley scored to secure a 3-2 win

A double hat trick gave Rastrick their first points of the season with a resounding win over Gomersal & Cleckheaton in Division III of the Under 12s.

Gomersal were 6-3 victors in the last league meeting between the two in November, but they were unable to find their form as Nathaniel Uttley and Luke Drennan rattled home three goals each to give Rastrick a 6-0 victory.

With only one win to show for their efforts so far this season, Battyeford’s Under 13s were hoping for better things at home to Lepton Highlanders In Division II but, despite a Luke Beaumont strike, the Mirfield side were eventually sunk when replies from Jordan Firth (2), Jack Burrell, James Stanley, James Manning and a Mohan hat trick gave the Highlanders a comfortable 8-1 victory.

Kirkheaton Under 14s retained their position at the top of Division II with victory at Wyke-based Scholes.

A single goal for Scholes was not enough as Kirkheaton added three more points to their promotion challenge when goals from Elliot McNab, David Smith and Jack Boyle gave the Huddersfield side a 3-1 win.

Another side celebrating their first win of the season was Lepton Highlanders Under 17s who travelled to Beck Lane for a Division III meeting with Heckmondwike.

Although the home side found the net twice, Lepton hit their best form of the season and goals from Luke Jagger (2), James Beer, Jimmy Brothers and Hepplestone secured a 5-2 victory for the Highlanders.

At the top end of the same division, Greetland stayed among the leading group with victory over Rastrick B.

A consolation goal for Rastrick was not enough as goals from Carrington (2), Ramsden (2) and Chadwick gave Greetland a solid 6-1 win to keep them in the title chase.

With only four teams still in the quarter finals of the five County Cup competitions, the RCD League has not enjoyed one their better seasons at that level this year, but hopes are still high as the remaining teams are all capable of going all the way.

Hopes in the West Riding Under 12 Cup rest with YMCA and Westwood Jets, who are both chasing the RCD League title.

The Jets will be hoping to progress when they travel to Wetherby for a meeting with Collingham JFC, who play their football in the Third Division of the Garforth (Leeds) League. Meanwhile, YMCA have a tougher prospect when they entertain Horsforth St Margarets at Laund Hill.

The West Leeds side currently top the Craven (Keighley) League and have lost only one game so far his season.

Another side hoping to make it into the semi-finals of the Under 14 West Riding FA Cup is Clifton Rangers.

Currently unbeaten, Rangers have a home draw against Bradford-based BD3 United, who lie mid-table in the Second Division of the Craven League.

And the RCD League’s last hopes in the Under 16 County Cup rest on Rastrick, who take on the winners of a fourth-round game between East End Park and Farsley Celtic, who play in Division One and Division Two respectively of the Leeds Junior League.
