MELTHAM Athletic are going to be very busy over the next few weeks.

They have played only 14 matches so far in the West Riding County Amateur League Premier Division – so they’ve got 16 to go!

At least they are in decent form, as their latest 4-0 win at Hemsworth MW indicated (especially as the Matthews brothers were sitting it out).

Meltham went ahead after only eight minutes when Dawson found Ellis-Pownall, who passed across the face of goal. Gant beat Rowlands to the ball and scored.

After 25 minutes they went two up, debutant Ellis-Pownall slicing a shot towards the corner where the ball was gathered by Blain, who fired low into the net.

Meltham stayed on top in the second half and they went three up on 56 minutes when Rowlands chipped the goalkeeper and his shot rebounded from a post for Dawson to score.

On 80 minutes substitute Adam Matthews finished off a great cross from Waddington to complete the scoring.

This win followed a 7-1 drubbing of Overthorpe when braces for Rowlands, Brammall and Newiss, along with an own goal, did the damage.
