MELTHAM Athletic had a change in fortune as they lifted the West Riding County Amateur League’s Premier Division Cup.

They stormed to success with a 5-3 win over Bay Athletic at Brighouse Town’s St Giles Road ground.

It was some consolation at the end of a campaign that saw them beaten in the Huddersfield FA Cup final by Storthes Hall and then they were runners-up in the West Riding County FA Challenge Cup when they went down 1-0 to Ovenden West Riding over at Woodlesford.

Jonathon Newiss led the Meltham charge with two goals, their other scorers being Tom Mathews, George Dawson and Mick Foster. Bay Horse replied with two goals from Kitson Gayle and another from Adam McLachlan.
