NEWSOME WMC will fancy their chances of causing a Huddersfield FA Challenge Cup upset when they go to Storthes Hall in round one.

The District League side, who were last season’s beaten finalists, have started the season strongly, and won 9-0 at Wooldale Wanderers on Saturday.

Storthes Hall, in contrast, have had a tough time of it in the West Riding County Amateur League, and are bottom of the Premier Division.

They picked up a point in a 3-3 draw with Lower Hopton on Saturday, but have yet to chalk up their first win.

Holders Meltham meet Kirkheaton Rovers in one of 19 first-round ties (13 clubs go straight to round two).

And Bay Athletic, leaders of the West Riding County Amateur League, go to Slaithwaite United, rivals of Kirkheaton in District League Division II.

Golcar United and Marsden, who are both going well in the County Amateur League, go to Grange Moor and Horse & Groom respectively.
