PAK RANGERS, proud holders of the West Riding County FA Trophy, are trying their hand in the West Riding Cup this season and in the first round achieved a 3-1 success at Battyeford Sporting Club.

The Fell Promotions Kirklees Sunday League side were 2-0 up at half-time, but it should have been three when Aaron Anderson missed with only the keeper to beat.

Despite their continued dominance Rangers conceded an 85th minute goal, when their keeper tried to dribble the ball out, but had the ball stolen from him to present an open goal for a Battyeford consolation.

Scorers for Rangers were Paul Pyke, Rees Thomas and Lance Hanson.

In the West Riding County FA Trophy KSL Division II side Woolpack had a 1-0 win at home to Wetherby Athletic.

KSL Division I side Rose and Crown went down 2-0 at home to Armley Rangers.

It was a strange game, with Rose and Crown having a great number of chances that were either luckily saved, or went wide of the target. Armley had only a handful of chances and somehow managed to score a couple of sloppy goals.

Division II outfit Wellington “B” lost 5- 0 home to Pudsey in a game where they had few opportunities.
