PAK RANGERS are through to the fourth round of the West Riding Sunday Trophy.

The Fell Promotions Kirklees Sunday League side beat Waterintobeer 2-1 at Leeds Road Playing Fields.

Rangers played well, particularly in the first half when they led 2-0 courtesy of Farooq Hussain and Lance Hanson.

Their opponents only threatened in the last 10 minutes, having pulled one back. However Rangers’ keeper was in fine form to make some great saves.

In the Get Smart Insurance KSL Challenge Cup first round, Meltham Victoria Park defeated fellow Division II outfit Woolpack 5-1.

On target for Meltham were Tom Matthews (3), Adam Matthews and Danny Knutton, while Anderson netted for Woolpack.

Woolpack started badly and were two down inside 10 minutes, but Victoria Park then had a man sent off to open things up.

Unfortunately for them, they conceded a penalty and Victoria Park went in 5-0 ahead after a couple of defensive howlers.

The second half was dominated by The Woolpack, but they still created few chances. Tim Dyson sorted out the defence brilliantly and won everything in the air. The midfield, Shane Wood in particular, were winning everything, but they still couldn't break down the Meltham defence.

Eventually the opening came when Anderson powered through on the right and hit a vicious shot into the bottom corner.

In Division II, Inter Athletic moved up to third after defeating Huddersfield Irish Centre 2-0.

It was a keenly contested game, with Chris Dolan grabbing the first goal with a well-taken shot. Irish were unlucky with a great shot from distance which was brilliantly saved by Leon Stephenson.

Inter’s top man was Daniel Berry, who was in total control of midfield.

Inter sub Andy Hunt had a good interchange of passes with Aaron Hargreaves, leading to the latter notching the second.

In the Inter-divisional fixtures, top-flight Waterloo were pushed hard by Division II Dalton FC before edging the game 4-3. Scorers for Waterloo were Riley (L), Nigel Reid, Sylvester and Steve Campbell. Dalton’s man-of-the-match Chris Milby, Jamie Hartley (penalty) and Reece Nyland got their goals.

Division I Wellington A beat Second Division Field Head 2-1. Gareth Bradley and Rob Mitchell scored for Wellington and Dan Large for Head.
