SUNDAY’S deluge decimated the Sunday League programme with only three of the scheduled matches going ahead.
One that did was the West Riding County FA Sunday Trophy second round tie which had Rose and Crown once again on their travels, this time visiting Leeds to face (ironically) AFC Travellers.
And they obviously didn’t enjoy their journey, enduring a muted first half which left them trailing 2-0 at the break.
Fortunately, they came out refreshed and re-invigorated to start the second period, and were soon on top after strikes from Shaun Barron, Jonny Beverley, Liam Madigan and Luke Haigh took them safely through to the next round.
In the League, Leeds Road Wanderers slumped to a 7-0 defeat against Kirkheaton, which prompted their manager Bob Lickess to describe their performance as dire.
Kirkheaton’s goals came from a Marcus Burton hat trick, two from Daniel Cooke and single strikes from Delroy Campbell and John Havis.
The Lockwood again failed to register a point as they went down 4-1 to Lepton Lib at Standiforth Rec.
Liam Reilly struck a hat trick, while Liam Carter completed the scoring for Lepton who moved into second place in the table, with those around them all inactive.
