SPORTING Club Shepley have set out their stall when it comes to the title in the Kirklees Sunday League’s top flight.

In the clash of the top two in Division I, leaders Sporting Club defeated FC Varsity 3-1 to extend their lead to nine points.

Helion are determined to pull away from the bottom of the division and helped their cause with a resounding 13-3 win over Foresters.

They are still two points adrift of the team above them, but have 10 more games left in their bid to recover.

On target for Helion were Smith, Dearnley, Fletcher (2), Gatenby, Ewart (2), Stephenson (2) and Hall (4).

In Division II Meltham Victoria Park moved up to fifth place after defeating leaders Barr Street 2-0. Tom Mathews scored both Meltham’s goals.

In the Interdivisional games lowly Division I side Waterloo BC had a fine 4-1 win over Second Division Huddersfield Irish.

Pike and Kilner accounted for Waterloo’s tally, scoring two apiece.

In the Get Smart Insurance KSL Challenge Cup’s first round, fancied Pak Rangers only just got past Division II strugglers Walpole 2-1 to progress to the quarter-finals, where they will face Helion.
