LEPTON HIGHLANDERS Ladies are going from strength to strength.
After landing a title and two cups at junior level last season, the senior team have now announced new team sponsors.
Subway, the sandwich firm, will be sponsoring them in the West Riding Women’s League.
It’s a big boost for the club and Anne Taylor, the football secretary said: “We started with only a handful of girls and now we have over 80 signed on for the club.
“We had lots of success last year. The Under 13 side won the West Riding League Cup and finished second in the League while the Under 11s won the League and the Cup.
“This year, we have entered the most teams into the league ever and that’s great.”
Lepton have had an influx of players over the last 10 years as more girls are taking up the sport.
The club started as the brainchild of PE teacher Justin Hampson, who started with only a few players on the books.
This year, the club have entered another four teams at West Riding level.
There will be an Under 10s mini soccer team, an Under 12s nine-a-side as well as Under 14s and 15s.
