AN Andy Farrell strike earned AFC Emley a 1-0 win against Bottesford in the Northern Counties East League Division I.

Ian Banks’ side, backed by a decent Welfare Ground crowd of 102, should have won more convincingly but there were good performances from midfielders Max Joice and Paul Quinn, while centre-back Sean Hazleden was, once again, a tower of strength at the back.

The result moves them up to sixth in the 19-team section ahead of tomorrow’s Sheffield and Hallamshire Cup tie at home to Frecheville (7.45).
