HUDDERSFIELD Irish Centre suffered last-minute heartache as they exited another tournament, this time in the West Riding County FA Sunday Cup, losing 4-3 against Old Pack Horse.

It was the second week running that Irish had failed to reach the last eight of a competition and they have one more opportunity for a cup in the FA Sunday competition.

Despite the short journey to Liversedge, Irish got off to the worst start imaginable conceding after just eight seconds.

After equalising on 20 minutes, the lapses in concentration soon returned as Irish conceded two more to head into the break with work to do.

It was a different story in the second period as Irish came out all guns blazing and gave the Pack Horse defence a battering. Their efforts paid off as they made the game all square at 3-3.

As the final whistle approached, the contest looked like it would be heading for extra time only for the home side to score a last-gasp winner to progress to the quarter finals.

Irish Centre now have their last chance of cup glory on Sunday February 21 at Leeds Road Playing Fields against Kirklees Sunday League side Britannia Sports.

Richard Dyson notched a 15-minute hat-trick as Marsh Lib claimed a comprehensive 5-1 victory against Kirkheaton at Reinwood Rec.

It was one-way traffic as Marsh dominated the early encounters and soon opened the scoring through Ben Roys.

Despite all the pressure, it wasn’t until 20 minutes later that Marsh increased their lead, with Dyson taking centre stage.

Leading 4-0 into the break, Marsh took their foot off the gas allowing Kirkheaton to pull one back before substitute Luke Stratford made it 5-1 to ease the nerves of the home side.

Leeds Road Wanderers’ boss Bob Lickess felt more sympathy for his players as another goalkeeper thwarted his side again as they lost 3-2 to Wellington Westgate.

Dale Brook and Darren Williams were on target for the losing side and Alan Elvidge, Alan Augustine and McDonagh for the winners.

Rose and Crown moved top of the now adjusted league table with a 7-1 demolition over fourth placed Thornhill Arms.

Lee Shaw (2), Roy Gilpin, Jonny Beverley, Ramon Clayton, Liam Madigan and Marc Howland all netted with Dean Lewis scoring the consolation for Thornhill Arms.
