BENIK AFOBE hopes to grab a fresh slice of FA Cup glory when Huddersfield Town host Dover Athletic in Saturday’s third-round showdown at the Galpharm.

The 17-year-old striker’s second month on loan from Arsenal ends after the tie against the Conference South side.

Afobe’s first start for Town came at Cambridge United in the first round, and he scored his third goal for the club in the second-round win over Macclesfield.

“I am not too sure how we will line up, because we will have to see how things go in the build-up,” said Afobe, whose other two goals came at Rotherham in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

“I just want to perform as well as I can in training and then see what happens, but whatever side the gaffer picks, we know we’ve got a job to do.”

Dover arrive on the back of 2-0 FA Cup wins over League II teams Gillingham (away) and Aldershot (home) and Afobe admits it will not be easy for Town.

“They may be a non-league team, but every game we go into we have to treat as though we are playing a top-level side,” said the England junior ace, who is nursing a knee injury after a knock in training.

“We never change our mentality, our approach in training or the way we play. The preparation will be the same as ever and they will come and want to show they are a good team.”

Town go into the tie on the back of a confidence boosting 1-0 derby win over Sheffield Wednesday on Monday, when Afobe played as a substitute and keeper Alex Smithies – now being linked with rumoured interest from Aston Villa – kept a clean sheet.

“It wasn’t the best of Christmas runs and we hadn’t won in the three games before we played Wednesday,” said Afobe. “But to get that win against a team who are our rivals at the top was a great lift. They are top-class and to get three points, we have to be delighted.”
