CONGRATULATIONS on the season so far. Entertainment and results, it doesn't get much better. Given how well Luton are doing now, do you think we are capable of stepping straight up to the Championship? Kev, e-mail

Jacko says: THE important thing first is to climb out of this division.

Once we are up in the Championship, then we can start assessing exactly what we need to do.

Sheffield Wednesday have struggled after winning the play-offs and Hull seem to be finding it tough going as well in the higher league.

Luton have, as you rightly say, pushed on this term and they've done it without bringing in too many players over the summer.

Considering we took four points off them last season that's encouraging, although the most important thing for us right now is simply to concentrate on getting up.

I think we have put a good platform in place.

We have got stronger by the year since I came back to the club and we've enjoyed a very good start to the season.

There is still a really long way to go, so no-one can afford to get carried away, but the indications are that we are going to have a good season.

The test now is to keep our form going, week in and week out and, if we suffer a blip, making sure we respond in the right way.

We've done that so far and we are playing some good football as well.

ADNAN AHMED has been playing in the Reserves but isn't yet figuring at first team level. Is he physically okay and when will he be back to 100% to challenge for the senior side? Bob, London

Jacko says: EVERYONE knows how well Adnan did last season and we all wanted him to progress this time in a big way - no-one more than Adnan himself.

Unfortunately, since we came back for pre-season, he has been suffering from tendonitis in a knee.

I still believe he needs a couple more games in the Reserves because he definitely isn't firing on all cylinders at this present time.

His recovery has gone more slowly than any of us would have wanted and, while he continues to work hard in the second team, he is still a way off regaining his place in League I.

When you miss pre-season it does set you back, but Adnan is a fit lad and he will return. I just don't know when that will be.

I WAS pleased to see you putting an arm around Mendes when he came on against Tranmere. Is he a `confidence' player who we are not seeing the best of or is he just down on his form at the moment? GT, Mirfield

Jacko says: JUNIOR is an experienced player in his late 20s, not a young kid who needs an arm around him for consolation.

He is just disappointed that he is not in the side at the moment and, because of that, he's frustrated at not getting a regular opportunity.

But who do you leave out at the moment?

Our two widemen are doing well and then we've got Boothy, Pav and Gary Taylor-Fletcher among the goals up front.

Junior can play wide on the right, and he's done that on a few occasions for me, but he is finding it difficult to break in at the moment.

When I gave him a chance at Blackburn and rested Chris Brandon, he didn't play particularly well and I had to make a change.

Junior will play a part this season, though, so it's important he stays positive.

I don't know whether he'll get half a game, 15 games or 25 by the end of the season, but he will have a job to do for the side.

We have 25 players here and my hardest job is keeping everybody happy. At the moment, we are top of the League and doing well, so it's not too bad.

It's not as though we are in the bottom four and still keeping the same team - then I would expect people knocking on my door.

I think the lads all appreciate the first team are doing well, we are looking good as a squad and those who are out of the side realise they have to be patient.

ISN'T it time our fans gave booing the likes of Alex Bruce a rest and concentrated on backing our own team? Keith, e-mail

Jacko says: PEOPLE getting stick from the fans is part and parcel of the game, I'm afraid.

It doesn't just happen in Huddersfield, it happens all over the country week after week. In general, our fans have been brilliant this season and have got right behind the lads.

I know Alex Bruce hasn't had a good reception the last couple of times he's been to the Galpharm, but I'm not expecting one when I go to Bradford a week on Monday!

I will get an horrendous, hostile reception but that's life, it's part and parcel of the game and fans will always have a go at who they want.

IT'S obvious Town prefer to play towards the South Stand in the first half. Does Worthington have a double sided coin to make sure this happens all the time? Peter H, Mirfield

Jacko says: THERE'S no double sided coin, I promise.

I think it's more to do with where we run out.

Our lads kick-up in front of the Panasonic Stand and the opposition in front of their own fans.

Unless the sun is out, or there is a howling gale blowing straight down the pitch, there is no real reason to swap around after the toss-up.

I think we prefer to play that way in the first half and the opposition prefer to play towards their own fans in the second - so it just works out that way.

THE mantra about keeping clean sheets seems to be paying off but, looking at the goal difference of the other top teams, do we need to score more goals? Dave, Munich

Jacko says: WE have scored in 20 consecutive League matches so we must be doing something right.

The main difference in goal difference has been caused by Swansea's freak win v Bristol City.

We are not going to win every game 5-0 and sometimes we are going to have to scrap, but the most important thing is where we are in the division.

I would take 1-0 wins all the way through the season if they were offered because that would mean we'd gain promotion.

We are creating a lot of chances and, if we take our clear-cut chances in any one game at the Galpharm this season, we will hammer someone 5-0 or 6-0.

I NOTED your comments about attendances. The biggest factor is cost. Should we look at more cut-price deals? Ricky, e-mail

Jacko says: WE'VE got 2,000 youngsters coming tomorrow as part of a schools promotion and we do offer free season-tickets to Under 8s when accompanied by an adult.

There's also the popular 7s Scheme where kids get free shirts.

I know there were other attractions on Tuesday night, but with 9,000 season-ticket holders we do need other fans to come down and boost the numbers, especially when we are playing good stuff.

The atmosphere this season has been great, we've had some entertaining games and, most importantly, we've got the best home record in the division.

So come on down!
