Huddersfield Town have confirmed the signing of Australian international Aaron Mooy on a season-long loan from Manchester City, pending international clearance.

The 25 year-old midfielder moved to Manchester last week from the club's sister side Melbourne City.

He now joins Town for the entirety of the 2016/17 Championship season, pending international clearance.

Aaron, who has 16 senior caps for Australia, is an attack-minded central midfield player and joins Ivan Paurevic in boosting David Wagner's options in the middle of the park.

He enjoyed a stellar 2015/16 campaign, and set a new A-League record of 20 assists in a single season.

Mooy has been handed the no.10 shirt at Town.

Speaking about his newest acquisition, Wagner said: “Aaron is a very interesting, exciting player who our fans may know as he played well against England before the start of Euro 2016.

“He is an offensive central midfield player who fills the position left by Emyr Huws’ departure at the end of the season,

“It is also a bonus that Aaron has a background in England, having grown up here whilst at Bolton Wanderers. He was very young at that point and, now he has better experience, he wants to show his quality in English football.

“The opportunity to loan Aaron came around very quickly once his move to Manchester City and I am happy we could move quickly to do this. We have completed some very interesting permanent transfers, but sometimes the loan market also offers exciting quality like Aaron.”
