PETER JACKSON assessed Town's hot promotion prospects today and vowed: "We're bang on target!"

Jackson watched his team beat Nottingham Forest 2-1 with goals from Danny Schofield and Andy Booth in front of the biggest Galpharm gate of the season - 17,370.

Only a late Swansea equaliser at Tranmere denied Town the outright lead, but they are now five points clear in the promotion placings with trips to Worcester (FA Cup), MK Dons and Bristol City on the horizon.

"We are bang on target for what I asked for at the start of the season and I can't ask more of the players," said Jackson, who hopes Pawel Abbott (groin) will be fit for Sunday's tie (1.05).

"We all want to succeed this season and I think that shows in the attitude of the squad, which is simply fabulous.

"On the training ground every day and in matches, they have a tremendous desire to work and the football we produced against Forest, particularly in the first half, was just outstanding.

"We were up against a team who will challenge at the end of the season and yet we stood up physically and played them off the park.

"That's the sort of attitude we will take into these next three matches, starting down at Worcester.

"It's a big tie, featured live on BBC1 and we are really looking forward to it already. Then we'll have MK Dons and Bristol City in our sights and we'll be looking to do well. The lads are confident."

Worcester beat Kendal Town 1-0 on Saturday in the FA Trophy.
