IT LOOKS like Town fans will have to be patient for a first glimpse of Robbie Williams.

Hopes were high that the former Barnsley man might make his debut in Saturday’s FA Cup second-round clash with Grimsby at the Galpharm.

But manager Andy Ritchie reckons both the 23-year-old and club captain Jon Worthington, who is also working his way back to match fitness after injury, need another two second-team matches under their belts.

The first of those will come in tomorrow’s Pontin’s Holidays League Central Division match against Leicester at Hinckley (7.00).

With no second-team game scheduled for next week, Ritchie could arrange another private friendly.

He did that eight days ago, when both players figured in a Town XI 4-4 draw on an artificial surface at Salford College.

That followed their appearances in the goalless Pontin’s League clash with West Brom at the Galpharm.

“I’m as keen as anyone to have them available, but we have to make sure they are ready,” said Ritchie.

“At this stage, I think they need two more matches each.”
