TOWN'S biggest crowd of the season saw Miss England do the honours at the half-time draw.

Hammasa Kohistani did the honours and picked the winner of the half-time draw at Saturday's crunch derby with Barnsley, which Town won 1-0.

She was helped by Miss Leeds, Becky Baker, of Ainley Top.

Hammasa spent the weekend in Huddersfield speaking to people about her role as Miss England and publicising the Miss Huddersfield and Halifax competition.

The event will be at Jumpin' Jaks nightclub in Halifax on Wednesday, June 14.

Organiser Collette Parker said Hammasa was very friendly.

She added: "People who met her said they were struck by how graceful she was."

Collette said she was looking for people to join in the contest.

She said: "We want good looking girls - but we need more than that.

"They must have beauty as well as brains and be able to be confident and represent themselves and their area well."

The winner of the local heat will go straight to the Miss England finals in Leicester in July.

The winner of the national competition then gets the chance to go up against some of the globe's most beautiful women in the Miss World contest, which this year is in Poland.

Collette said: "It is a great opportunity for the right person. It could be the beginning of a new life."
