LUKE BECKETT today received praise from Town manager Peter Jackson.

While promotion winners Andy Booth and Lee Fowler pushed their claims for recalls with impressive displays from the bench against Barnsley, Jackson was delighted with striker Beckett's debut on loan from Sheffield United.

"I felt sorry for Luke in the first half because he got no service whatsoever and balls were just coming straight back at us," said Jackson today.

"I had told him what a good attacking side we were and how we loved to play good football, but by half time he must have been wondering what the hell he'd come to.

"Credit to him, though, because he kept working hard and, after earning us the penalty which got us back in the game, he was desperately unlucky not to score on a couple of occasions, with the substitute keeper making one wonder save from him.

"I was pleased with his contribution and I have to say the same about Boothy and Lee Fowler.

"Boothy gave us height and experience, scored a good goal and caused Barnsley a lot of problems, while Lee went on to try and get something back from the game and helped us to put the inconsistency of the first half behind us."

Fowler could well make only a fourth League start of the season at home to Bournemouth because Chris Brandon misses the match through suspension after collecting his fifth yellow card of the season at Barnsley. Worthington, Clarke, Holdsworth and Abbott remain just one booking from a ban.
