BRENTFORD'S stand-in manager Scott Fitzgerald has been handed the job on a permanent basis.

Alan Reeves will continue as assistant to Fitzgerald as the Bees, without a win in 16 league matches, battle against the drop from League I.

Fitzgerald took over as caretaker following the dismissal of Leroy Rosenior last month.

A club statement said: "In a short period of time they have worked on fitness, organisation and team spirit."

Brentford have yet to win under Fitzgerald's lead and have picked up only one league point in four fixtures.

Fitzgerald and Reeves are understood to have signed deals until the end of the season, with managing director Keith Dickens commenting: "If we maintain our League I status the incentive for Scott is a good extension of the contract."
