TALENTED paceman Jack Hunt is hoping for the chance to use his up-to-the-minute knowledge to help fired-up Town reach the League I play-off final.

The 20-year-old right-back or winger made a close-up study of Bournemouth during Saturday’s 1-1 semi-final first leg draw at Dean Court, first from the bench and then on the pitch.

Hunt, sent on as an early second-half substitute for Lee Peltier, whose hamstring problem is being assessed by manager Lee Clark (below) ahead of tomorrow’s deciding Galpharm return, said: “As a defender, it helps to get a little insight into what your opponents like to do, and I was watching them closely.”

Hunt, who is hoping for a 22nd Town outing tomorrow, has already played a part in one promotion success this season, having spent the first half of the campaign on loan to League II champions Chesterfield.

But the academy product, who made 20 League II appearances and played 23 times in all for the Spireites, is determined not to be facing them next season.

“Chesterfield were very good for me. I enjoyed my time there and well done to them for getting promoted, but my head is fully with Huddersfield now,” added the player whose bright performances since returning to Town have earned him a new two-year contract.

“I’d rather not be playing against them in League I next time, and that means getting past Bournemouth tomorrow, then winning the final.

“We’re disappointed we couldn’t hold onto the lead down there, but we’ve still gone away and got a 1-1 draw, which we would probably have taken beforehand had it been offered.

“I feel a bit at fault for their goal because I could have done better with the clearance.

“But their lad (Donal McDermott) still had to bring it down and then hit a great strike.

“We just have to take that on the chin and we are confident going into the second leg.

“We believe we are in the driving seat after doing a job down there.”

Chairman Dean Hoyle confirmed: “All the lads are passionately up for it.

“They can’t wait to get started and, while it will be tough, the second leg can’t come quickly enough for us.”
