A late equaliser from Nahki Wells against QPR ensured Huddersfield Town remain unbeaten this side of Christmas - and rescued a deserved point for the Terriers after an accomplished performance at Loftus Road.

While the stadium hasn't been a happy hunting ground for Town, they did their manager proud with a second positive display in 48 hours following the 3-1 victory over Preston North End on Boxing Day.

Here's five things we learned from the game...

1. So David Wagner does draws after all

Eight matches into the German’s tenure as head coach, and the spoils were finally shared.

Wagner was disappointed not to take all three points, but at least the recent run of win, loss, win, loss was broken.

It’s now three victories, one draw and four defeats since his arrival.

Town’s last stalemate was 2-2 at Reading on November 3 , Chris Powell’s last match as manager.

2. Town’s character and belief shone through

It was a huge blow when Wagner’s compatriot Sebastian Polter put QPR ahead in the 80th minute.

But the body language of the Town players suggested they were more than up for getting at least an equaliser.

Nahki Wells made the most of the inviting free-kick which followed Daniel Tozser’s foul on Joe Lolley in the 86th minute.

And Sean Scannell would have snatched all three points but for a good Rob Green save.

3. Still no clean sheet, but Joe Murphy did well

Town keeper Joe Murphy

The former Republic of Ireland keeper impressed as he made his first appearance in seven games following an ankle injury and on-loan Jed Steer’s return to Aston Villa.

It was his eighth game of the season and 12th in all for Town.

He has kept just the one clean sheet, in last season’s home draw with Sheffield Wednesday.

But the experienced former Coventry City and Scunthorpe United stopper has a lot to offer, as his fine second-half save from Matt Phillips showed.

4. Phil Billing could have a big part to play in 2016

The Danish teenager was unlucky to pick up an ankle injury at home to Leeds United on November 7, the game before Wagner took over.

But the boss, who watched the West Yorkshire derby, has spoken of the positive impression Billing has made on him, both during that game and in training.

The ex-Esbjerg player is fit again and was on the bench ahead of Kyle Dempsey at QPR.

With Dean Whitehead still out, his chance could come soon.

5. There’s no shortage of incentive for Jason Davidson

The Australian international made his first appearance under Wagner, whose squad rotation continued apace.

And he produced a decent performance before making way for Ben Chilwell on the hour.

Chilwell has just one more game before the end of his loan from Leicester City, with no guarantee of an extension.

And former West Bromwich Albion man Davidson will be eager to reclaim the shirt and add to his 17 Town outings.
