GOAL hero Andy Booth is nursing a knee injury.

The 32-year-old Town striker, who attended last night's Examiner Community Awards, suffered the knock in a training ground challenge at Storthes Hall yesterday and is under intensive treatment.

It's too early to say whether it will keep him out of Saturday's FA Cup first-round tie against Blackpool at the Galpharm, but it's a worry manager Peter Jackson could do without.

Danny Schofield (groin) and Chris Brandon (hamstring) were also withdrawn before the end of yesterday's squad workout, which marked the return to full training of defender David Mirfin.

"Boothy (pictured right) got hurt and we'll have to keep a close eye on him," said Jacko, who will attend tonight's FA Youth Cup trip by the Juniors to Grimsby (7.30).

"Hopefully it's not too bad. Chris Brandon and Danny Schofield also had niggles, so we will keep them under treatment and see what tomorrow brings."

On Mirfin (thigh), the manager added: "It was great to see him back among the lads and we are hoping to get a full week of training into him.

"Mirf has been out quite a long time (seven matches since September 26 at Tranmere) but he has worked hard in rehabilitation.

"It's great to welcome him back but he'll need a couple of decent warm-up games to get himself going again.

"At the moment, he will be pencilled in for the home Reserve game against Walsall a week tomorrow (2.00) and we'll see how he does in that."
